Mangroves in South Sumatra Province cover an area of 171,629 ha (KLHK 2022) spread across Ogan Komering Ilir, Banyuasin, and Musi Banyuasin. OKI Regency is one of the largest mangrove habitats in South Sumatra after Banyuasin Regency. Simpang Tiga Abadi Village and Simpang Tiga Jaya Village are located on the coast of Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Most of the people are pond farmers and fishermen. However, the production of brackish water aquaculture and capture fisheries has decreased. This has become one of the triggers for opening new ponds so that the existence of mangroves is more threatened. The decreasing production of aquaculture and capture fisheries also affects the community's economy, so new alternative livelihoods are needed to improve the community's economy.

 

Simpang Tiga Abadi Village has a women's business group, the Bintang Ratu Group, formed in 2021. Likewise, Simpang Tiga Jaya Village has a new business group, the Maju Jaya Group, formed in 2024. Both groups are microbusinesses that significantly contribute to the community's economic growth in their villages. However, they still have limitations in resources and business strategies. The existence of the "Micro Business Specialist" position is essential to developing community micro-businesses by implementing intensive and continuous assistance. The purpose of the existence of the "Micro Business Specialist" is to assist two business groups, namely the Bintang Ratu Group and the Maju Jaya Group, in terms of:

1.                   increasing the institutional capacity of the Bintang Ratu Group

2.                   assisting the Bintang Ratu Group in increasing business income

3.                   monitoring and evaluating the business that the Bintang Ratu Group has carried out

4.                   facilitating the development of the newly formed Maju Jaya Group business in organizational/institutional management, product management, business management, financial management, and marketing management

5.                   Provide technical guidance to increase the capacity of the Maju Jaya Group

6.                   facilitating the marketing of Maju Jaya Group products to prospective buyers (off-takers)
