Berau district which is part of the region in East Kalimantan Province has the potential for natural resources with high biodiversity. According to this, Berau District has a significant role in supporting the commitment of East Kalimantan Province to implement sustainable development to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Berau District Government through the Estate Crop Office formed an Ad Hoc Inventory and Verification team for areas with high conservation values ​​involving the Environmental Office and development partners. From November 2019 to December 2021 the team has visited 17 palm oil companies (PBS) operating in Berau District.

The visits have made several results of documentation. The results are then compiled in a Book of Inventory, Verification, and Documentation of High Conservation Value (ANKT) areas which then need to be edited, designed and printed in Bahasa and English format
