Description:

Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) through KORALESTARI Program is one of the GFCR convening agents in Indonesia.  The KORALESTARI Program aims to address the decline of coral reef health in Indonesia, due to unsustainable fishing and aquaculture, uncontrolled coastal development, land and marine pollution, climate change impacts, and invasive species. The strategic vision (desired change) of the KORALESTARI program is to enable a transformative change in the way coral reefs are protected and restored through establishing sustainable management systems of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and stimulating a reef-positive blue economy that improves local livelihoods, is inclusive, and enhances coastal resilience to climate change impacts.  One of the solution models for innovative finance mechanism is self-financing MPA through UPTD-BLUD MPA models.  The UPTD-BLUD MPA model hopefully could contributes to the financial sustainability of the MPA by managing the resources from the tourism fee in combination with government contributions.  As such, the UPTD-BLUD MPA model allows other funders to provide grants to the UPTD-BLUD.  Therefore, there is a need to conduct a study on the potential revenue for the UPTD-BLUD MPA model within the Kawasan Konservasi Pesisir dan Pulau-Pulau Kecil Kepulauan Derawan dan Perairan Sekitarnya (KKP3K-KDPS) within Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

The objectives of study are to undertake policy and regulatory landscape studies to explore potential revenue streams for UPTD-BLUD KKP3K-KDPS model, conduct a study on the potential revenue generation for UPTD-BLUD KKP3K-KDPS within its conservation area, and undertake a study on the operational cost of UPTD-BLUD KKP3K-KDPS.
