Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) is a non-profit organization established in Indonesia in 2014. YKAN, with the support of the Asia Community Foundation (ACF), developed a program, “Uplifting Local Communities’ Mangrove-Based Livelihoods in South Sumatera,” with a selected location in Simpang Tiga Abadi Village. YKAN's initiative in running this program is to develop alternative livelihoods for the community by selling Abon Bandeng (Mak Abon) and Nipah Cookies made by the Bintang Ratu women's group from Simpang Tiga Abadi Village. The materials used to produce these products come from their village environment. It should be noted that the raw materials used in producing Nipah flour come from Nipah fruit that grows naturally in Simpang Tiga Abadi Village. Excessive use of nipah fruit is feared to threaten the sustainability of Nipah vegetation if the harvesting is not balanced with its regenerative capacity. Studies related to the potential and productivity of Nipah as a raw material for Nipah flour need to be conducted to determine the capacity of Nipah fruit harvesting in nature so that Nipah fruit in Simpang Tiga Abadi Village remains sustainable.

The purpose of recruiting this consultant is to collect data related to the distribution and population of Nipah vegetation as raw material for making Nipah flour and to cover the productivity of nipah fruit so that its use does not threaten the sustainability of Nipah in Simpang Tiga Abadi Village and the Sungai Lumpur Village river.
