North Kalimantan Province has great potential to be developed as a GEOPARK. Based on Perpres No. 9 of 2019, the first stage in proposing a national GEOPARK is the determination of geological heritage. In the process of determining geological heritage by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), it must be based on empirical data that can show the geological importance of the proposed area. One of the potential geological heritages owned by North Kalimantan Province is the Gunung Benau Karst, Tanjung Palas, Bulungan Regency. This activity aims to identify the potential for geological heritage and provide empirical data in the Gunung Benau Karst, Tanjungpalas. These data will later be able to assist the process of accelerating the proposal for the Tanjungpalas Karst geological heritage by the Regional Government to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
