Behavior change can help individuals and communities adapt to climate change. It can involve modifying existing behaviors or adopting new ones. We can explore the personal and social dynamics that drive behaviors such as energy utilization, settlement, livelihoods, and natural resource management through a behavior change lens. This is needed to evaluate climate change plans and adaptation strategies, to help understand their effectiveness, to assess the roles and progress of stakeholders, and most importantly, to generate knowledge to increase communities’ adaptability.

YKAN is planning to develop behavior change guidelines for climate adaptation followed by pilot interventions in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi Province and Sabu Raijua, East Nusa Tenggara Province to strengthen coastal communities' resiliency for the long term. Additionally, YKAN will also work with local NGO in each region as climate change adaptation hub that co-develop place-based adaptation and co-lead the behavior change implementation.

YKAN is currently seeking consultant to conduct this study and develop behavior change guideline for climate adaptation utilizing the behavior-centered design (BCD) approach.

The main objectives are:

1.         Conduct a study utilizing a behavior-centered design (BCD) approach to analyze behavior change for climate adaptation in Indonesia's small islands; Wakatobi and Sabu Raijua.

2.         Develop a behavior change guideline (knowledge product) as a blueprint for BCD in climate adaptation (incorporating the role of local NGO as well).

3.         Develop a BCD implementation plan for climate adaptation in Wakatobi and Sabu Raijua.
